Who we are
ChargeSage is published on Google Play by Xypher Labs as com.chargesage.app. Xypher Labs is the data controller for the diagnostics described below and can be reached at xypherlabs.dev@gmail.com.
What ChargeSage stores on your phone
All of it lives in the app's private storage and is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
- Battery readings — level, current, voltage, temperature and charger type, sampled while monitoring is on.
- Charge and discharge sessions — the history, health and coaching screens are built entirely from these.
- Screen-time figures — only if you switch on Usage access yourself. App names and foreground times are read live and summarised locally.
- Your settings — accent, charging-screen style, alarm thresholds and so on.
What leaves your phone
There is no account and no sign-in, and your battery history is never uploaded. For diagnostics and its own settings ChargeSage uses Firebase Crashlytics, Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Remote Config. Ads and Premium purchases are covered in their own sections below. Diagnostics and settings send:
- Crash reports — the stack trace, your Android version, phone model, and whether monitoring was on at the time.
- Usage events — which screen you opened, whether monitoring was switched on or off, that a charge session was recorded, which charging-screen style you applied, and that an export or alarm happened. Never the readings themselves.
- A random install identifier Google generates. It is not your name, email or phone number, and it dies with the install.
- A settings fetch — on opening the app, ChargeSage asks Remote Config what its own configuration should be. That request sends nothing about you; it only receives.
- A country or region, which Google works out from the address the request arrives on. We never see your IP address and nothing finer than that.
Turning diagnostics off
Settings › Data › "Send crash reports & usage data". Switch it off and both services stop collecting immediately, for good. Everything else in the app keeps working exactly as before — nothing is gated behind leaving it on.
Advertising
The free version of ChargeSage shows ads from Google AdMob — banners, an occasional full-screen ad between screens or when the app opens, a banner on the charging screen, and short video ads you choose to watch to use some charging-screen styles. To choose, cap and measure those ads, Google receives your device's advertising ID, your IP address (for an approximate location), basic device and app information, and how you interact with the ads. No battery reading is ever part of it. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland ChargeSage asks for your consent through Google's consent form first, and Settings › About › "Ad privacy choices" lets you change that answer at any time. Anywhere, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android's privacy settings. Google's use of this data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. ChargeSage Premium removes every ad.
Premium purchases
Google Play handles the payment for ChargeSage Premium; we never see your card, UPI or bank details, your name or your email. To switch Premium on, the app sends the purchase token Google Play gave it, and the product id, to our verification function on Google Cloud (Cloud Functions for Firebase). That function asks Google Play whether the subscription is active and answers with its state and renewal date; it does not store the token. Firebase App Check, using Google Play Integrity, confirms the request really comes from ChargeSage on a genuine device. The answer is kept on this phone so Premium works offline.
Battery comparison
The fleet-comparison feature that would upload your battery readings is not live, so no reading has anywhere to go. If it ever ships it will be off until you switch it on, separately from the diagnostics switch above, and this policy will say exactly what it sends before it sends anything.
Permissions and why they exist
Every permission is asked for a visible feature, and the app keeps working — with that feature off — if you decline.
- Notifications — the ongoing monitoring notification plus the charge-limit, low-battery and temperature alarms you configure.
- Foreground service — keeps sampling running with the screen off so a full overnight charge can be recorded.
- Display over other apps — optional; lets the charging screen appear the moment you plug in. Without it you get a notification to tap instead.
- Usage access — optional; powers the screen-time and per-app drain screens.
- Ignore battery optimisation — optional; stops the system killing monitoring overnight.
- Start at boot — restores monitoring after a restart, only if you had it on.
- Internet and network state — used to send the diagnostics described above, fetch the app's own configuration, load ads for free users and verify a Premium purchase. No battery data travels over it.
- Advertising ID — added by Google AdMob so ads for free users can be chosen and measured, as described under Advertising.
- Google Play billing — lets you buy Premium inside the app.
- Package visibility — scoped to apps with a launcher icon, so the usage screens can show real names and icons instead of blanks.
Sharing and export
Exporting your history to CSV or JSON writes a file you choose the destination for. Where that file goes afterwards is entirely your decision — we never see it.
Children
ChargeSage is a battery utility and is not directed at children. It asks for no personal information from anyone; the diagnostics above carry no name, email or phone number.
Your control
Clear history in Settings wipes recorded sessions. Turning off "Send crash reports & usage data" stops all diagnostics. Revoking a permission in Android settings stops the matching feature immediately. Uninstalling removes everything the app has ever stored.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the updated text ships inside the app update and the date above changes with it. Questions: xypherlabs.dev@gmail.com
